After seeing countless stories in the media about the atrocities and injustices perpetrated against women and girls around the globe, commercial potter turned artist-activist, Louise Pentz, asked herself, is my silence contributing to the problem? The answer was yes, so she completely refocused her pottery work, allowing it to express her strong feelings and solidarity, thereby taking a stand and touching the hearts of other artists to take a stand too.
“The artists have an important role in bringing about social change. Find out what you can do. If everybody did what they could, gosh, that would be pretty interesting. Those who perpetrate hateful things on others – they’re banking on our silence. Recognise it. We all have power. Now what? What are you going to do with it?” ~ Louise Pentz
